Kia Howard is Gorvins Legal Representative for the Derbyshire Police Federation.
Kia is an Associate Solicitor in the Family Department of the Stockport office.
As a member of Resolution, Kia is committed to resolving disputes in a non-confrontational way. Kia ensures that consideration is given to balancing the benefits of any steps to be taken against the likely emotional and financial costs. She is understanding and sympathetic to clients' needs at what can be a very emotional and difficult time.
Kia has experience in dealing with a wide range of aspects of private family law to include advising on divorce, separation agreements, financial issues, cohabitation disputes, domestic violence and children issues.
Responsible for referrals from Lancashire and Derbyshire Police Federations, Kia has a detailed knowledge of police pay and benefits, particularly dealing with police pension on divorce.
Kia's recent work includes:
- Representing a client in an acrimonious divorce to include cross-petition from the other party and addressing matters in a constructive and non-confrontational manner;
- Acting for an individual that had been subjected to domestic violence and seeking to protect the welfare of the children;
- Advising a client in Children Act proceedings necessitating the input of both child and adult psychologists.
